In 2002, Co-founders William Horner and Steve Williams partnered to provide an opportunity for family operated dairy farms to make a comeback by adding value to their product. Naturally Iowa, Inc. operates its state-of-the-art 28,000 sq. foot dairy processing facility in Clarinda, Iowa. The Company's main product lines are organic and all-natural fluid milk, ice cream and drinkable yogurt. The Company produces superior dairy products certified either organic via the Iowa Department of Agriculture & Land Stewardships Organic Certification Program or natural (rBST free milk).

Wishing to place their superior dairy products in containers that would not harm the environment, the Naturally Iowa group found a revolutionary type of plastic made from corn that biodegrades in a commercial composting facility in 60 to 100 days.

NLIA

Naturally Iowa developed a working partnership with Natureworks, LLC, and became the world's first dairy to use NatureWorks(R) PLA bottling. Organic milk in PLA bottles landed on grocery store shelves in October, 2005. Cargill Inc. researched and developed this innovative new technology beginning in 1997 and developed NatureWorks PLA (Polylactic Acid). What does "PLA" mean? The acronym stands for "Polylactic Acid". This substance represents the final step in a process, engineered by Natureworks, LLC, a subsidiary of Cargill, Inc., which utilizes all-natural ingredients from corn to create a compostable material.

The PLA technology has been scientifically and market tested and used successfully in a variety of applications across Asia, Europe, and North America. Naturally Iowa is the world's first and only dairy processing plant to utilize PLA technology. Additionally, Naturally Iowa is the only IMS (Interstate Milk Shippers) approved dairy processing plant in the world that is approved to ship PLA bottles across state lines and internationally. As such, Naturally Iowa currently has no direct competition in offering the latest PLA state-of-the-art, biodegradable, environmentally-friendly packaging for its dairy products.

Why Invest in Naturally Iowa, Inc.?
  • SUSTAINABLE GREEN PACKAGING: NATURALLY IOWA IS THE FIRST DAIRY IN THE WORLD TO MANUFACTURE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY BOTTLES MADE FROM CORN Naturally Iowa, in partnership with NatureWorks, LLC, is the first dairy in the world to introduce a new type of dairy container (made from corn) which pioneers the way for the environmentally friendly packaging of dairy products. Additionally, Naturally Iowa's plant in Clarinda is the only IMS (Interstate Milk Shippers) approved dairy processing plant in the world that can ship PLA bottles across state lines and internationally.

  • EXTENDED LIFE PROBIOTICS FOR OUR DRINKABLE YOGURT PRODUCT LINE Besides the great taste, many people enjoy yogurt's special probiotic benefits. Live strains of "good bacteria" found in yogurt assist the body's digestive system. What many people do not know is that these beneficial yogurt bacteria generally do not live long enough to make it past the store's shelves. With Naturally Iowa's proprietary extended life probiotics in our drinkable yogurt, our live yogurt cultures have demonstrated that they last for up to 60 days.
  • COLD SEPARATION METHOD
Naturally Iowa adheres to a strict policy of using only the cold separation method for processing its fluid milk, which allows for the highest quality end product in terms of flavor while maintaining the naturally healthful benefits of organic or all-natural milk. Additionally, we believe that Naturally Iowa's end product tastes superior to other products because the majority of other dairy producers use the traditional ultra high temperature pasteurization (UHTP) which heats the fluid milk at 275F degrees.
